    Default Moultrie camera question

I have this obviously set up in the yard.

One day the pics are great and full of color, the next they all have this odd tint/ low color.

It seems to alternate every day, but that may not be 100% consistent.

It is a newer Moultrie something or another. i40 maybe?

Been doing this from day 1....a few months.

    Thanks.

The IR cut filter is not getting back in position when it gets light enough for daylight photos. It seems to happen when light is marginal on mine. The way it works, the sensor is always IR/low light sensitive and the camera moves (mechanically) the filter into place after dawn once it gets light so you get "normal" pics. Then move it out of the way at dusk.

It's not usually a full time problem.

From about 6:45am till 7:30ish mine will flip back and forth, every other picture. I got them in a 3 pack on Amazon. All 3 do the same thing. They take pretty good pics otherwise, so I don’t complain.

So, one day all the pics will be filtered.

The next day or two, that will all be unfiltered (apparently).

It doesn't switch during the day.

Now that I think about it, some of the night pics kinda suck too...I'm guessing the filter just ain't right.

Is the camera defective? Heck, guess I'll just try to take it back.

I had the same exact camera and it did the same thing. Just different color pictures on it but not too big of a deal for me. It’s always worked pretty good

One thing about moultrie is they have always made problems with their stuff right. As has Cuddeback

    Get you a Snickers, Man.

I wouldn't say that first pic is 'a fine pic'. I just want the thing to work as it should. That ain't too much to ask, but I probably will not take it back. I doubt I will buy another one though.

I did a little more research and it must be a pretty common problem. I found this website thru Moultrie with instructions to reset the IR filter. I did that, but haven't checked the camera to see how its working yet.

i bet I could see a deer in that first pic if there was one.

your IR just cant decide what to do. I'm sure you could reset it. I'm also sure you could return it.

I'm also sure this, in no way, means I need a snickers. I just dont understand people returning things bc they think were cheated by the man.

Your $99 camera is doing an admirable job. Enjoy the pics.

It seems alot of the "low glow" IR cameras have issues with the transition from light to dark. I have a bunch of the cheapo tascos for public land and a friend has some of the more expensive Primos cams. The Primos handles the transition better than the tascos but it seems hit or miss with the under 100$ cameras. If you want great pics you gotta pay for a better camera I guess.

Also, you can take the pink pic and edit it to black and white, might look better
