    Default Titling and registration question

I recently moved from South Carolina to Florida. I intend on moving back to South Carolina in the next 3 years or so. I will be doing a lot of hunting and fishing in both States over the next couple years and I'm wondering about the legality of transferring ownership of my boats and motors over to my dad (SC resident)while I'm down here to avoid the aggravation of getting everything retitled in Florida and paying those registration and titling fees. So I guess the question is will there be any problems with me "borrowing my dad's boat" for a couple years and then moving back to South Carolina and getting the title put back in my name?

Also I bought a long tail while I was down here in Florida. What is the legality of me using a long tail that's not registered in the state of South Carolina as a Florida resident? Should I just transfer ownership and let the long tail be registered in SC as well?

I know this Probably sounds a lot like I'm just trying to be difficult and "Stick it to the Man" but I just really don't want any difficulties with DNR in either state and also don't want to have to go through changing my title over multiple times back and forth from moving.

Any personal experiences or insight is welcome

Just add him onto the title with you and use his address.

Lots of sport fishing boats and RV's with Florida plates and registration stickers here in SC. I don't believe there are any annual property taxes if you have your boat / motor or RV registered in Florida.
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

I would think you'll spend just as much time titling your junk in FL than you will transferring it to your old man.

And I think FL only registers the boat and trailer, if I remember correctly. Prolly be cheaper annually.

I don't think they pay a "property tax" but I believe there is a "use tax."

They title the boat and trailer but not the motor.

I feel like you are over thinking this. Keep your stuff registered here using your dad’s address if you no long have an addrsss in SC.

I have a place out of state and over the years have had several trucks and boats registered out there. Those trucks and boats have spent a lot of time in SC.
