I think they are selling bear tags, OTC, for Horry, Williamsburg and Georgetown counties. I think the harvest quota is 30 but they'll probably not get there.

Sad to hear. Shot quite a few mergansers out of that pond back in the day.

David Lucas, a spokesman for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

"She was walking the dog near the lagoon and the alligator came out of the water and tried to get the dog," Lucas said. "The lady tried to rescue the dog and a maintenance worker ran over to help." Both were trying to save the dog, but the alligator dragged the woman into the water, he said.

    The dog was unharmed.

I’m guessing he means reduce their numbers to the point they qualify for the list

The gator tags SC and Jawja gives out, don’t reduce the population by .00001% The tag holders are hunting trophies, which are harder to hunt and well off the beaten path. They should have have a open season every 5 years and anybody, anytime can kill all they want.

Can’t hunt them over bait or if a property is baited for deer though.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

That's an old saying my father in law enjoys repeating from time to time, eluding to the days when they were classified as endangered and folks didn't have many issues with them. The population has rebounded and we find them to be a pain in the ass now.

I heard the gator went after the dog and missed but got the leash which was attached to the lady.
Then headed into water with it
Not sure if accurate but I was told
