Default Alabama to spend $600 mill

The University of Alabama is set to make it rain with $600,000,000 worth of athletic upgrades. This is where everybody has to seriously upgrade their stadiums, mostly built back during the Roosevelt administration, into mini "Jerry Worlds". All for 7 Saturdays a year, in a time when many already choose to watch it all from the comfort of home because it has gotten too expensive with parking, PSL's, tickets, and travel. This should be interesting to watch explode across the South to say the least. Maybe we can get some decent piss troughs...
    ......
Alabama Athletics has a legendary reputation for excellence and championship programs. In order to maintain and build upon this reputation and to ensure the Crimson Tide remains at the forefront of collegiate athletics, Alabama Athletics is embarking on a ten-year, $600 million initiative.

The Crimson Standard: A Capital Initiative for Alabama Athletics will transform our facilities and provide the environment necessary to recruit and train the best student-athletes and position our programs as nationally competitive in the future.

Nearly every facility within the Athletics Department will be enhanced and some will be completely renovated and modernized. Three of the highlights of The Crimson Standard will be Bryant-Denny Stadium, Coleman Coliseum and the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility.

In addition to significant capital improvements, emphasis will be placed on the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund (the annual scholarship fund) and scholarship endowment. Securing scholarship support will be vital to the financial health of Alabama Athletics.

All projects are subject to approval of The University of Alabama Board of Trustees, presidential approval and fundraising success.

You can blame that craziness on the bank that will lend the School the money trusting that the fans will pay it back. If the school has the money it may be time to pump the brakes and ask the question does it really have to be this nice?

You better have one hell of a big fanbase that can withstand the average fan being priced out if you want to see the seats filled at the end of the day.

The cost to build and maintain a successful football program is high
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

This is the most important part of the entire deal.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

That would suck if Dabo left. He knows how to identify with the players, hire the right people, stay out of their way, and split his raises with them. If he left, Clemson better hire someone who does the same, and not someone who lets their ego get in the way and thinks he has to control every aspect of the game. I don't even think Dabo's headset is linked up to the coordinators. He's probably listening to books on tape.

I read where Alabama brought in 104 mil in 2016, with 47 Mil of that being profit. It's mostly ticket sales, but that Crimson merch brings in a lot of cash.

Agreed. In game decision making isn't his thing for sure.
