He’s making a move from one USC to the other.
South Carolina Gamecocks football picked up a transfer from Southern Cal in defensive back Jamel Cook, the school confirmed. The defensive back from Florida redshirted in 2016 and played sparingly last season.
Out of high school, the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder was a four-star prospect, the No. 99 player in his class and No. 2 athlete.
An injury forced him to sit out 2016, Out of high school, he made the 2015 Prep Star All-American Dream Team, USA Today All-Florida second team and All-State Class 6A first team.

He had offers from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Miami and Wisconsin.

Cook tweeted out a release from Southern Cal. The Trojans at that point sought to block him from the entire Pac-12, Notre Dame, Texas, New Mexico, UNLV, BYU and Fresno State. The Gamecocks were not on that list, but that would have not been relevant regardless after the NCAA changed the transfer rules this past offseason, disallowing programs from blocking transfers to certain schools.

Cook is originally from Miami Central High School and was a teammate of current Gamecocks defensive tackle Keir Thomas. Gamecocks defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson and head coach Will Muschamp recruited him when they arrived at South Carolina, but he elected to head to Los Angeles. Cook was part of three consecutive state championship teams at Miami Central from 2012-14, was a first-team All-State Class 6A selection and was a member of the USA Today All-Florida second team. Cook also was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Here was the scouting report from 247Sports when he was a high school recruit:
"What can Cook not do? When you pop his game tape on, he is everywhere making play after play. Then you see him live and realize how tall, how rangy, how quick, and how athletic he really is. Likely a free safety on the next level and he has closing speed and ball skills. Could project as a wide receiver too. Always in the place to make a play. Goes hard, plays fast, and just a versatile athlete on the football field."

    “Cyclin” and “outworking”

Redshirted year 1, then “played sparingly” in year 2 on a team that sucked the last 2 years. I think we know who the real winner is here, Dabo.

he was injured last year....."offered by Alabama and Pickens Community College". They tried to block his transfer within USC's conference because he probably sucks.

He was 3rd on the depth chart at USC. That would equate to a starter at USuC.

He decommitted from FSU on national signing day (pretty shitty) and went to USC. Now he’s bailing on them. Should fit in nicely in Columbia.

Looks like y’all got a good one. Muschamp is a hell of a recruiter!

Good for Carolina. Jakey is going to need someone tall to throw to when he’s on the run from those 4 guys on the cover of SI.

Speaking of #fuckinidiots" did it occur to you they did not want him in conference because of the playbook and signal knowledge and not his amazing athletic ability?

Beat Clemson 5 times in a row? Not likely since he can only play 4.

Spurrier saw the horizon in the near future and thought it the appropriate time to pack up his SC legacy and get the heck out of Dodge. Wise, in fact, move on his part since he'd be staring at a 5 barrel come November himself.
I'm going to heaven for the weather and hell for the company.

When I saw "high-profile" and the pic, Whoopi Goldberg came to mind.

Yep. He knew his window. Enjoy watching Carolina fans giving zero fucks about the same 5 that drove so many of your comrades off the cliff because it is coming. The only thumb gamecocks fear is that neckbeard Boulware's...

Unlikely, but, assuming Carolina fans don't care about 5, I'm sure they fear the other thumb. 10 is coming, accept it. By that time Muschamp will have suffered permanent stress issues from all the raging and moved on, and Carolina will have to select its next coaching victim. Wonder what iconic great will be sucked into the vapid, whirlpool of insignificance that is the University of South Carolina football program.

This is the same arrogant attitude y'all displayed......suggesting WV didn't even belong on the same field with the tigers.

How did that work out for you?
