    Default Herters Shotgun Shells

Starting to restock some shells for the upcoming seasons and noticed Herters shells are considerably lower in price for 16gauge shells than most other brands. Just curious if many people have tried them and did they seem to cycle reliably in older automatics?

Shot a case last season. No hiccups. (I'm assuming steel you mean).

I got 2 cases of 16's. They shoot fine. Need to order some 28's as well

I bought a case of 20 gauge to try this year. Upon inspection they appear to be fine.

I shot 2 or 3 cases of lead 8's out of a 12 gauge at clays and doves. I've got no problem with them. For a cheap shell, they do what they're supposed to.

I'll be buying lead as well.

From what everyone has said so far they seem like a safe buy. Compared to the Rios I was shooting there'll be about $25-$30 difference per case. I already bought some 28s but they're going to be used in an O/U.

I've shot around 10 cases of these shells in 12 ga. Nothing wrong with them. Decent low priced shells.

I thought Sellier and Bellot made them for Cabelas. Not sure

Cheddite makes them for Cabelas, I think. For the price, they are good shells. If you shoot a 16 ga, they are the best value around.

    DC,
What type of gun? I shot some in an old Auto-5 that I had just replaced all of the springs. Before the 1 oz loads would reliably cycle, I had to shoot a few boxes of the 1-1/8 oz loads just to break in the new springs.

Not that it matters but they are being made in Italy by a factory that previously had gone out of business. The component may be Cheditte though.

I still find it puzzling that we can purchase shells that come over from another country cheaper than we can make here. Shipping containers from overseas has to be fairly expensive.
