Honestly, my mom had a recipe. She poured vanilla extract on the snow.

It tasted like vanilla iced dirt with driveway rock sprinkles. Because it’s hard to separate an inch of snow from the underlying dirt and driveway rocks.

That's close...vanilla extract, bordens canned sweet milk, and a little sugar. You got to get the snow off a like the car hood or porch railing. Just skim the top.

I don't think you had much of a childhood if you were appropriately dressed for the weather.. character has to be built from something.

Socks, zip lock bags, and a few of your sisters hair rubber bands make decent snow gloves.

Speaking about appropriate winter dress...I've got an old picture somewhere from when I was around 12 or 13 yrs old and went skiing with the church youth group. There were probably 10 or 12 kids and 3 adults. Everyone had on fresh new snow gear and I'm out there in a walls camo overall and camo full face tobaggan.

My winter foot wear was the same as my hunting foot wear. A pair of old green lace up rubber boots with God only knows how many cracks. Only thing that kept my feet dry was the trash bag between my socks and the boots.
