    My thoughts:

    1) Black Rat Snakes don't (usually) eat rats - they eat birds, nestlings and eggs
    2) Black Rat Snakes are very common
    3) Black Rat Snakes love wooden structures
    4) Black Rat Snakes always come back
    5) Black Rat Snakes are very common...

I've gotten where I let cooperheads 'walk' and kill the black rat snakes...

Can we just say “rat snake”, please?

All this mention of color and race triggers my entitlement guilt.

So let me get this straight. Snake eats ceramic egg. Egg works its way through the snake. It gets to the end. Snake can't poop that big thing so eventually die. Is that about right?

Is the advantage that you just don't have to catch em in the act to get the end result?

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

The ceramic eggs primarily are to encourage hens to lay in a certain nest or place in the house. Also if you have hens who are pecking the eggs, the ceramic eggs are a good deterrent. I pulled the same ceramic egg out of three snakes. It will kill them if they eat it.

Kill em next time and buy a walk the plank rat trap. Both problems solved.

In my experiences, I don’t reckon or assume. I know for a fact eating the ceramic egg will get them killed.

I’m not at that level of coolness yet. Although I have graduated to say “bull” whenever I catch a trophy fish or kill a mature waterfowl!
