Default Dolphin from somewhere down South!

Tied to a pier and hanging out on the fantail on duty we noticed some flashes in the water that turned out to be dolphin chasing ballyhoo and flying fish off the side of the Coast Guard cutter. Ran inside and grabbed my medium action spinning rod with a 3000 size reel and went to work on them with a 1/4oz jighead and a cocahoe minnow. We ended up with 9 all about this size in a little less than two hours! What a blast!!! It was my first time ever catching a dolphin and although they were little they were a blast on 30lb braid with a 15lb flouro leader.

I’d rather pitch and chunk them over dragging bait any day. You won’t catch the “stud bull mahi mahi or whatever the Ohioans are calling them” but you’ll have a ton of fun on light tackle. We go into 10-15# fish like that in early May and put 16 in the boat in no time to finish the limit.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Teasing them up and free gaffing them is fun...

One of the chiefs on board walked across the brow in board shorts and a Hawaiian shirt and said “Look at that stack of dorado!” I just laughed!
