I would be pissed off for the rest of my life, if that happened to me. I'm sure some of my relatives were in that shitty boat when Lake Murray was built.

If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Missing you my great friend.
What is up with that skeleton in that dive video....?
Yeah that'll mess with your head the first time you see that especially when you are narced from the nitrogen at depth!

I would be on the side of letting the dead have their place in peace.
Yeah that would be a good way grab a little hex

Awesome video scoutlover. I don't even swim unless my life is in danger. If that place was 15' under I might could do it but 150'?? Very cool connecting to a movie made in the 70s.
I figured it was pretty deep because very little natural light was getting through. Visibility was pretty good for a lake in these parts. Wonder who put the skeleton down there? Must be a pretty popular place to dive.
Btw, I saw a 3rd National Confederate States of America flag at the foot of a gravestone at 3:46. Looks too new to be from before the flood, so I'd wager someone from the SCV is decorating the grave of a Confederate soldier...underwater, cool if so.

It is a pretty popular dive site. The graveyard is on top of a gentle sloping hill kind of like a mole hill. Under normal water levels it's around 135'-140' to the top of the hill and around 155'-160' at the bottom where the standing timber starts back. When the lake drops during drought years, it puts the graveyard in recreational limits (130') and more people are able to visit it and that's typically where you get all of the additions of junk on the bottom.
Another cool thing about the graveyard is the roadbed that leaves it. In one video I left the graveyard swimming down the roadbed and went to the old Mt. Carmel church foundation. In the other video I was on a rebreather and swam for a long way down the road and came to another road intersecting it like a 4 way stop! No signs of course but it was still neat. I plan on redoing those dives with the new lights I have because it's hard to tell what's going on in the old videos in the dark.
The visibility is normally great at those depths on Jocassee although the temperature stays very cold. It stays in the low 50's below 100' and in the 40's below 200'. Jocassee has turned into a national treasure in regards to diving and people travel from all over to dive it because of the clear water, not having to worry about being blown out of going offshore, and it's a technical divers playground. I'm not much of an ocean guy being from the upstate but I'd imagine it would be a pretty long boat ride to get in 300'+ of water. Here you can swim that deep from the shore!

There's a cemetery that didn't get moved under Lake Marion. It's in the southern edge of the lake. I recall standing on a vault in my waders during duck season where the water was really low. I thought it was a refrigerator or something. I was in my early twenties and want always thinking clearly. I realized it wasn't a refrigerator sometime shortly thereafter when I recalled seeing some other grave markers and such in my minds eye.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Mergie's post today about search engines prompted me to post a search for "Mergie Master." A few porn sites came up and this one. I missed it last June.
Of course I use his recommended search engine....
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.
I somehow missed this one too. The dive video is pretty dang cool.
A blast from the past.
