I keep seeing more and more at our place. Started as a covey of 10. Now I know of at least three covers of 20 or more. I jump them within 100 yards of the same place each time.
Very cool.
That’s great. Some of my best memories are hunting birds with my dad and uncle.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Damn cool video! Thanks for sharing.
That video was awesome! I remember jumping coveys on our place 20+ years ago and hearing them in the summer but haven’t seen any in that long. Hear one occasionally now. Hoping for them to make a comeback enough just to hear them whistle.

Been noticing more and more around my place as well.
Did he get an answer to his calls ?
I’d pay a bunch of money to hear that around my house again.
I heard a couple for the first time in years in a clear cut across from our house last week.
I got a few running around in my yard. Hear em en the afternoons.

Imho,....the population reached such low levels, the survivors will be too inbred to make a comeback without importation of new genetics.

Spur Hunter, Did you whistle the male in? One of my friends in Ninety Six can do that and it is amazing. I will have to get a video. He calls the quail in like a turkey. It even strutted in the road!
Concerning population. I think we are at the high point of my lifetime thus far. We cut a few blocks of timber 5-10 years ago. The young pines next to mature pines seem to be a good combination. I saw two Wednesday and constantly heard them whistling.
Awesome. We used to have a covey of 20+ in Darlington in an overgrown ag field. When you busted them, they would fly to the other side, but never leave the field. I used to sneak over and shoot one or two when I was younger, but that came with a high risk of an ass-chewing from my dad.
We have a covey behind the house. I love waking up to their call every day.

Great video. We've got one that walks the ditch across the road behind the house. That sound never gets old.
I don't need my name in the marquee lights....
