    Default SCDNR Turkey survey

Anyone else get an email today for the DNR turkey survey, the one that specifically asked your opinion on strutter decoys and "reaping"?

Just got the email, the strutter/reaping questions were kind of odd.

No, they were pertinent and refreshing to see.

    I got it

Thought it was well thought out and had questions that pertained to the current turkey hunting world. I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

There are some very insightful people looking into the Turkey population problems some of the state is experiencing. It is very refreshing as already mentioned seeing some people looking outside the box and trying to make heads or tails of what the hell is going on!

Not to derail the strutter/reaping topic, but having lived in Georgia for the last four years and using the reporting system they rolled out two years ago, I'd really like to see a similar system implemented in SC. I like the fact that it helps give more of a real time account of where and when turkeys and other species are harvested. Hunters can use the app or the phone number. Think mobile check station. I'm not naive enough to believe everyone uses the system, but if all hunters did, data aquisition and assessment could be much more efficient in South Carolina.

Until the last 6 months, I have lived in GA my whole life. I love the check in system, no it’s not perfect but it does give the DNR some information. It gives minimum harvest, and it gives harvest trends.

The survey SC sent today gave me the feeling that someone cared about the turkeys and someone was trying to make sure the turkeys are okay.

I hope GA will do the same in the future

I'm a pretty big fan of fewer laws.

Y'all are comfortable with having to notify the fucking government that you killed a turkey?

You already notify the government of your intent to kill a turkey.

I’m not usually a fan for more laws

But I am a fan of data. In GA, it has been eye opening

I did not get the email, but I hope they outlaw male turkey decoys and any sort of reaping. It would be a step in the right direction.

What else can we outlaw that hurts your feelings?
