Zucchinis have a male and female flower. I forget the scientific term. The female flower has a small 1-2" fruit at the base of it. If the female flower isn't pollinated, it won't grow. If it is, you have 2-3 days before it becomes a 4 pound fruit. Unless I'm misreading. I guess he could be talking about the plant itself.

Yea my fruit on the plant are small. The plants themselves are great looking. I looked hard and it seems like the male flowers haven't really blossomed yet

And I guess I should say the field it's planted in is 10acres. We didn't necessarily plant all 10 acres. 6 rows a section, skip 6' for a path for tractor or truck, another 6, path, etc, etc.

My first round of corn didn't germinate. Planted it 2 weeks ago in Spartanburg County. Coworker said hers didn't germinate either. Anybody else have that problem?

Can you elaborate? I didn't know corn planting depended on the lunar cycle. Then again, my granddaddy always planted his on Good Friday which would be right after a full moon.

This sat mine will be planted 3 weeks. They are about 4" tall. one cucumber plant got drowned but everything else seems to be ok for now

Long and short of it, above ground crops in the new of the moon(new moon to full moon), root crops in the old of the moon. I plant by the signs as well so there's more to it than that.

We had a light frost at the house this morning. Not sure how much more frost burn my garden can take before I'll be replanting...

    less common spelling of monoecious
1 : having pistillate and staminate flowers on the same plant
2 : having male and female sex organs in the same individual : hermaphroditic
