Default Prayers for Townville Elementary this week

Today is the start of the trial for the Townville School shooting suspect

I know we all have our own thoughts but please say a prayer for those involved, the Principal is a very good friend of ours and she is dreading her and all the rest of them having to basically relive all the events from this terrible tragedy

My understanding is the teen shooting suspect is being tried as an adult

This week is a hearing in family court to determine if the suspect will be tried as an adult or as a juvenile. Hopefully it is determined that he will be tried as an adult.

My son is in the 5th grade at Townville, a lot of emotions going on.

The school district, Mrs Fredericks (Principal), and the Townville staff have done an excellent job over the last year. They have kept the kids engaged and parents informed to head off any potential issues that could arise after a tragedy like this. People deal with things in different ways but from what I've seen most have adjusted to the "new normal". My son is a strong kid and is doing fine. He's very competitive and does well in school (A/B honor roll) and sports (Football, baseball, archery, basically anything outdoors)
His question is the same as all of ours " Why would someone kill their dad and then go try to kill a bunch of kids?" I don't know...

The hearing starting today is to determine if Osborne will be charged as a child or adult. My wish is adult.

Great to hear that. Denise has told me just how fortunate they were that a lot more were not shot

Never will forget that day and phone call from my daughter (Denise Fredericks daughter and my daughter are best friends ) that Becky called and told her what was going on.

Guess we always think this is some where else but this time it was not

I'll never forget the call either. My wife called my assistant and she pulled me out of a meeting . All my wife knew and said was that there was a shooting at the school and she was headed that way. I took off immediately. My phone started blowing up with people asking me if my son was OK, hell I didn't know.

Made record time from Liberty to Townville. They were sending everyone to Oakdale Baptist Church where they were evacuating the children to. I pulled up in the church parking lot and saw my wife. I parked and we stood there a few minutes not knowing anything. Then we could see what seemed like a million blue and red lights coming down Hwy 24 with school buses mixed in. The 1st bus turned in an came by us. We saw our son through a window and then saw him go into the gym where they were processing and accounting for all the kids. They took us to the sanctuary and we got to see him about 2 hrs later once they had everyone accounted for.

Thank God Billy and Jamie were close by and got to the school as quickly as they did. And, thank God the gun jammed or it would have been a much different story...

I can't imagine the emotions you must have gone through that day.

Have they decided if he will be tried as an adult? Saw a clip about it last night and based on some of the statements he made to the detectives he should clearly be tried as an adult.

The hearings this week are to decide if he will be tried as a juvenile or adult. He had a plan to take out 20 or 30. He knew what he was doing other than knowing how to run a handgun. (Thankfully)

Some of the testimony is gut wrenching.

Man I can not imagine the thoughts and feelings you had that day .

Probably would make a parents heart stop.

    Thanks for sharing.

On another note, walked by the courthouse yesterday for lunch and was SHOCKED at all the stuff the ACSD had down there.

Barriers around the courthouse, Mobile Command unit, all parking lots blocked with patrol cars, and deputies standing EVERY WHERE>.

Can someone explain WHY, hell you would have thought they had Pablo Escobar or John Gotti on trial.

You can thank Richard Shirley for all of that mess. He got somehow got word that Osborne was on the web attempting to arrange for someone to break him out. I drew a short straw and have been stuck on the detail transferring him from the juvenile facility to the courthouse and back all week. It is absolutely ridiculous.
