This may be old news for some but thought I'd pass along a review.

I hit Ike's in Spartanburg for the first time since I moved here and that place serves up an honest to goodness just plain ole damn good hamburger.

No fluff, no ferns. Just meat, fries and cold beer.

carry on

Ike's Burger joint here in Spartanburg is my Thursday night special. They used to have happy hour from like 6-8 where there were $1 beers, and from 7-8 they were $.50 beers. Their breakfast is a great hangover cure too.

Ike's has got a damn good deep fried bologna sammich with chili and onions. Just make sure you gots sparkin paper nearby.

The Clock in Greenville is good but haven't eaten there in years. When I was a kid the
What-a-Burger in Columbia was the best around but I think they went to pre-pattied burgers.
He would have been nice next year.

I'll second the Dixie in Greenwood also. Best burger I ever had was on a pier in Galveston...the "Julie Burger"

The Palmetto on Laurens Rd. in Greenville saved me from hangover hell on many a Saturday back before I was a married man. The cheeseburgers weigh atleast a pound, and they have chipped ice. Chipped ice with sweet tea is "salve for the weary soul".
