    what make and model do you have? how do you like it? would you reccomend it to a friend? How much $$$?

    have the g.e.l. seems to loose signal a good bit, and takes a while to pick up signals. have an old garmin gps15 and it picks up signal alot fastier. heard the newer garmin with color is awesome, esp with the map quest in it.

    Lowrance H2Oc, nice for me and what I use it for. I can easily Create maps and load them on the SD card. I don't want one that talks, ever.

    I just bought one of these to help with the boat and some of these WMA areas. Got lost in a swamp in Ridgeland last year and almost spent the night out there. Any feedback? Do you have to pay for new maps or can you find them cheap (free)?

    I got the Explorist 500 and like it a lot. I can see it just fine with these nearly 50 year old eyes. There are a lot of good ones out there. I strongly recommend getting one with map download capability. Then spend a LOT of time learning how to use it.
    If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
