    Default Marlin 336 trigger

Anybody ever installed one of these aftermarket triggers on a 336 (older style gun, pre-safety gold trigger)??

If so how did you like it or is there a better option to look at?

Ive heard they are pretty good. My marlin 45/79 has the rest of WWG's parts inside except the trigger. Mine had an unusually good one from the factory

Does the gold trigger signify pre-safety?

My win 94 breaks at just over 4lbs, and for what it is, it's a great shooting gun, find myself more times than not grabbing it.
I found a 336 ( older gun) this past weekend at a pawn shop/ gun shop that I'm eyeing.... they also had a savage 99 in 300sav. That I'd really like more.
Never even thought of looking into after market options for the lever guns.

My dads got one in .35Rem he's had since high school. We've both killed a bunch of deer with it but that things got a trigger pull longer than a country mile. Shoots great but I wouldn't hesitate to say that trigger is 6lbs or more. I've been wanting to throw one of these triggers in it and upgrade the scope and carry it as a brush gun

I put a wild west trigger in a newer 336. One with the safety. It took about 20 minutes. trigger is about 3.5 lbs

No - there were some JM Marlins with gold triggers & cross-bolt safeties. I have one.

That Wild West trigger will be a big improvement. Im not sure on the install, I have been advised that lever guns can be tricky to put back together. I have used a gunsmith. Worst that can happen is you try and cant do it & end up paying a gunsmith.

    Phone,
If thats my old 1895G then a gunsmith in Charleston slicked up that trigger & action.

Thanks, on both points. Never knew any of the JM stamped Marlins had a safety. It shoots pretty good for an old lever gun. I can put three touching at 75 yds.

I looked at a new 36 Monday in an old hardware store that sells gun. You couldn't give me one of them. The old ones look and feel much better.

I've put them in my 35 and 45-70. Not a big deal. Bot had shitty triggers. The Marlins are pretty simple leverguns to work on.
