Well, the last 7-8 GM truck products I have had, had the tranny replaced before 100k miles. All I ever pulled was a 4 wheeler or a jon boat. I guess that would be extreme use or neglect.

Oh BTW, I had the tranny serviced at 30k mile intervals like the manuel says to. The brakes had to be replaced every 30k or so miles - to be expected.

I have a Toyota now that has 135k miles on it. Guess what... no problems. Even have the original battery still in it... Even have the original brakes on the front end... they may make 150k miles, or so says the dealer.

When domestic producers start making a better product, I will again buy American. Until then, I cannot afford to buy junk.

Oh yeah; I even wrote GM a letter stating the above. I never heard back from them even though it was confirmed delivery. They could not give a shit if their vehicles break down...

KRT:

Nissan Titan's are made in Mississippi and the powertrain's are assembled in Tennessee so I believe I am atleast partially supporting the US economy. A large part of the beloved Chevrolet's are made in Mexico. If you would go test drive a Titan you would drop your 1500 Silverado or Sierra in a "heartbeat". Go drive one.

Sasha I don't wanna drag up the ole chevy ford topic again
BUT
I have a 99 with 130 k on it, all I've done is change oil, diff fluid, tranny fluid at 100 k, and plugs at 100 k. I STILL have original brakes on it front and rear but miles are highway miles not in town braking miles.

Face it there is bound to be a bad one in every bunch

As far as the letter..... They prolly get ones from bigger ' s than you to respond too

I understand there will be "bad apples", but what are the odds that I picked that many "bad apples."

You're supposed to service the transmission???

Sasha, I certainly wasn't trying to beat a dead horse or pick a fight, but I have had several Chevy's with no major problems yet (knock on wood). I don't do a lot of towing, but a fair amount in the 5-6000 # range. Granted, I have usually had 2500's - maybe that's the difference?

All I had were Tahoes/Yukons. I probably towed about 20% with these trucks. I always had the overdrive off while towing... never at high speeds... no quick starts...

All these vehicles had the heavy duty towing pkg and heavy duty tranny cooler option. I finally just gave up... I couldn't afford to drive GM products anymore.

I must have just taken too good a care of them... that is why there was early failure.

Full size Chevys from 94-99 have transmissions that implode at 70,000 miles. Maybe not everyone, but nearly...

We've had three from that genre and put a total of 9 new transmissions in those three.
