I do not think the quaility of the old Duracrafts is the same since the new owner in 2006. I don't think they offer the same boat models either.

surprised to see some people picking smaller motors for a all around boat-

I do not want to go shrimping with less than a 40-50-

You stop at 40 qts? I figured you needed the storage for all your extra shkrimps.

I have seen a 24'er that had hand whinches and the works for trawling. They worked out of Edisto and went down toward Beaufort to do their trawling.

Was the first question, "Best all around boat for hunting, fishing fun etc?" Or was it best aluminum boat? I cannot remember and since I already voted I cannot see it again. If it is best all around boat I vote 18' Sea Craft CC with 140 HP engine, no t-top (BTW a t-top on a boat shorter than 23 feet looks bad. T-top height should really not equal or exceed 1/4 of the boats length.)and all the teak stripped off and replaced with starboard. But I am a coastal oriented fellow. If I had to go all over the state I would stick with my original selections in the poll.

Yes we need custom boat builders or these folks just need to ride over to Louisiana and Arkansas, it could take a good week to visit all the custom shops over there. I will never own a production line boat again or at least my duck hunting rig will not be.

You want a recycled beer can, then buy from your list. If you want a hull to last a life time, outboard or mud motor then buy from the above list. I am sure stump can add a few more to the list.

If you're looking for all hunt/fish/shrimp/ride nothing can beat the custom coastal bay boats. Custom ****, High Tide, Charleston Boat Works, etc. All have the deck on front (shrimping/fishing) and can take rough water far better than any of those aluminum hulls. Taken my '94 Bay Raider(old custom boat) to Rockville, Jetties, Nearshore Reef, etc. many a time. Maybe not so hot for the swamp with stumps involved but you make the call. If you mainly hunt salt water, probably best boat for the job. Just my .02 though...

this poll was for aluminum boats- fiberglass creates a weight issue for most along with the stumps!
