    Default 06 F150 ? need help

hey guys my f150 started cutting off when put in gear , it seems to be idling a little lower than normal . From what i have googled it could be the idle air control valve . Anyone had any issues like this . Thanks

It could be several things. I'd say the 3 most likely are 1) dirty throttle body (carb cleaner and some elbow grease to fix) 2) IAC motor (idle air control) or 3) Vacuum leak.

Again you will need to do some trouble shooting. Any codes? Check engine light? Poor drivability? .... you get the point.

Vehicles set codes all the time and not trigger a check engine light.

I've seen low oil pressure at idle on those 3 valve motors cause the variable valve timing to get screwy and stall at idle. It really could be several things. Is there any abnormal engine noises coming from the phasers at idle? Phasers are at front of valve covers.

Again I'd check codes, clean the throttle body, check for vacuum leak, or put a IAC motor/valve on it if you throw parts at it.

Idle air control motor/valves are not to terribly expensive anyways.

Catalytic converter? I had one years ago clog up, and just trying to get home I was flooring it. When the cam was pulled out it looked like a piece of pipe, not a lobe on it.

I wouldn't order a thing until I had a capable scanner pull codes.

I just re-read it, I had the same thing happen and had to clean the throttle body with throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush, like KRT said, straightened right up. Also, there were no codes either.
