any list that includes Lexington Barbecue is bullshit. Unless it is on a list with the Gay Dolphin and South of the Border.
My wife is from Lexington NC. Those people think the sun rises and sets over that nasty shit.

Midway in buffalo chicken stew will change your life. Ive never been a fan of browns. JK's ribhouse in manning is on time

sweatmans needs to be on there.
has anyone had the brisket from Lewis' in charleston?
I had a friend bring my family some a month or two ago. It was devine. My wife and daughter went by there friday to bring me some for my birthday.
It might be the best damn brisket I have ever had. Spot on.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
its hard to beat a McRib though
Lewis's brisket is indeed as good as it gets. It is as good or better than anything TX has to offer.
Rodney Scott for pork.
I threw Brown's in my initial comments just for honorable mention...
Of course, BBQ is a lot like pussy - even when it is bad it is still pretty damn good!
The list is NC leaning, so not valid.
That said i can attest that 521 BBQ in Fort Mill is damn good.
I guy that used to work for me is from N. Carolina and you can't tell him shit about anything being better than something from there. You would think it was the epicenter for everything ever created. You would think he would move back there since everything is so great.
sweatmans for just a simple no frills buffet. Browns in kingstree isnt bad, friend of mine is related to them so we usually eat for free when we are there. Lewis downtown is hands down the best brisket i have ever had the pleasure of trying. Hometeam is ok, so is Rodney Scott's. i have a buddy that swears by Shealys but i have yet to try it. Music Man in moncks corner is ok. Bessingers is fast food bbq, its nothing special but i go for the onion rings. i would love to try Author Bryants or Franklin's in texas.

The fact that Jackie Hite's isn't on the list can mean only one thing. A damn Yankee must have written the article!

Thanks for linking to my site. Saw a bunch of hits coming from this page and had to find out more. Obviously, SCBBQ worth talking about.
Lists like that one are just "click bait" getting a lot of visitors for no real work. That list is ludicrous, especially from a SC point of view.
521 was very good the one time I tried it. Shealy's however isn't even the best in it's own town; that honor goes to Jackie Hite's (RIP). Scott's in Hemingway is largely considered the best in the state and Rodney Scott's new place in Charleston may eventually match his hometown status (but it's not there yet....at least BBQ-wise).
Ricky Scott's (Hell's Half Acre) and Sugar Hill BBQ (Manning) are probably the two best no one (except a couple in this thread) have ever heard of.
In addition, I invite you to try our SCBBQ map, which will find your location (with your permission) and show you the closest SCBBQ locations in your area.
Also, if you travel the interstates in SC regularly, check out our SCBBQ Road Trip series in which we ID all SCBBQ restaurants (not national chains, just SCBBQ joints) within 10 miles of an interstate exit.

Hell even Cannons in Little Mountain is head and shoulders above Shealy's. Hites and Cannons represent what BBQ should be.

Yep, that is the common tie with both. Gas cooked BBQ cannot in any way compare flavor wise with that cooked over wood. It simply can't be done.
