For those of you eating taters, when did you plant? Planted mine last weekend of March, and they are just starting to flower.

Planted on February 12. Upper Murray. You can plant taters anytime after the full moon in Feb if the ground is right. Not before.

When do y'all dig up your taters? Some say 10 weeks and some say after they bloom. Some say wait until the plant dies off. Guess it depends on the size taters you like.

i pulled 15 or so carrots up yesterday and picked a couple squashes and zukes, left some cucumbers on the vine that are gonna need picking by the time i get home. armadillo decided to root up my potatoes while i was away for the weekend. the 6 plants got 2lbs of baby reds and golds. mostly golf ball size. taste delicious but wanted to wait for them to get full size. no more seed potatos in the stores so i just replanted with some regular ol grocery store taters - not much chance they are gonna do anything with the heat of summer quickly aproaching...

Most potatoes need about 90-100 days from planting to reach full size. Kill the tops and wait a week or so to set the skins before you dig them. You can obviously kill them earlier if you want small potatoes. Tuber set usually starts just before flowering.

So far so good. This is my oldest planting. Probably go through it the end of next week.

I'm about ready for some tomato pies and sandwiches... I can't eat a store bought tomato. That and some ratatouille, saved some summerducks for that.
