And the 2011- 14, may as well replace the timing chain and tensioners if you haven’t already.

My buddy has an eco boost and it's been in the shop as much as he's driven it I think.

I have had both issues KRT showed. The timing belt happened twice. I paid for the first time and luckily the Ford part warranty paid for the second. I spent about $2500 all said and done getting the timing belt changed and the part was back ordered for 2 months. Luckily my family has been dealing with the same dealership for 30 years. They gave me a loaner for nothing for those two months.

How do you clean them every 50k?

Knock on wood my 14 has 67000 miles with no issues. I do change oil religiously around 3-5k miles though.

Have they come up with an approved procedure for cleaning them yet? Last I understood, you couldn't do a normal top end clean like bg etc... because it was cooking the turbos.

You pull the intake and you walnut blast all the carbon deposits off the valves. It is the only way to get them cleaned.

4 to 500 depending on how bad the deposits are.

Oil changes have nothing to do with carbon build up on the valves or the chain issue in the 11-14 year models.

Cleaner will not get the deposits off unless you have done it periodically since day one. If you have, then the deposits didn’t form and cleaned will do the job.

I personally would not run that shit through an induction system that has a turbo. That’s me of course.

If you own a eco boost and it has more than 50k your valves will look like that picture. If you have more, they will be worse.

Ford Eco Boost, 6.0 and 6.4 diesels have put a lot of groceries on my table.

    Ford diesel = 6.7
    Ford F-150 = 5.0

My 5.0 is currently sitting 9,4xx miles past due on my last oil change and ain’t missed a beat. Other than the annoying cherry bombs some kid put on it before I bought it and the fact that the sun roof won’t open I’ve got no complaints
