Took a friend this morning to my place and had 3 gobbling good until they flew down and that was it. They are henned up bad so we decided to jump and run to Montgomery County where he has land. We slipped down a logging road about a half mile and set down let thing settle and every 20 minutes or so hit the call. Bout 10:30 a bird gobbled in the distance so we rearranged our set up and he moved out in front of me about 50 yards. About every 15 minutes he would gobble once and I would call back to him. Finally he crossed the power line and hit the holler in front of us and knew he was coming so I quit calling. Next thing I know the bird gobbles again and he had turned and walked right up on top of the hill where I was instead of walking right on up the draw where my buddy was. He stopped behind a brush pile long enough for me to raise my gun and give him several purrs and clucks on the old Spring Allure Persimmon slate then he stepped out at 30 yards looking. He figured out the gig was up and tucked his wings to leave so I sent a payload of triplebeards his way dead at 11:45 19 lbs 9" beard 1" spurs.20170415_115604.jpg
