    Default Turkey Stands

This is being discussed on another forum- What do you think about hunting turkeys from elevated positions (deer stands)? 1st, is it legal? Apparently the answer is yes. However, for what reason would you be 12-15' off the ground to shoot turkeys?

the only reason I can see being in a stand is to get out of the rain.

Exactly right! Where's the damn challenge? Maybe they should use a robo decoy as well.

I shoot them in the fall from a tree stand. There is a fall season here.

Oh there are robo turkeys out there. I've heard some have a real turkey taxidermy on them. I hear they make turkeys act so spitting mad and absolutely crazy they come unglued. Just hearsay.

Same argument could be made for deer hunting over a corn pile, or crossbow instead of a compound instead of a recurve, with ozonics and scentlok. If it's legal, have at it.
    FWIW, I don't hunt turkeys.

I see scrap is a turkey hunter. Thank God for box stands spread about the property when turkey hunting. Its nice to be able to get to one quickly when the bottom drops!

I made a miniature robo turkey decoy as a final project for one of my industrial electronics classes. Had the turkey mounted to a servo motor and I wrote the arduino code so that the turkey would turn and then turn back halfway and then continue to turn the other way. It had a ten second lapse and then would go around back to its original postion. Had it hooked up with sound and everything.

I bet Lab could not hear it gobble either....
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
