Am wondering what shells you guys are running through your 28's for turkeys? Choices seem to be pretty limited but would love for some help. Have not tried any yet. Shells are so expensive that I want to get some ideas before I go buying.

I hand load TSS #9 for my 28 ga shotguns.
Let me preface this with I dont kill a lot of turkeys, but I know a lot about 28 gauge shells. Most people reload for it. TSS will be your best bet. Some people load the 13 gram c/c stuff that you can buy from places like ballistic products. And if you want to be disappointed, I guess you could load #5.5 or #6 nickel plated lead 7/8 oz loads or something but that would be a last resort.

TSS is the only ethical shot for turkeys in the 28ga.
Pellet count and pattern density is low with lead and hevi shot in the subgauges. Sure you could kill one out to 20yds with #8 dove shells with a well placed shot, but turkeys move and things happen. I have tested and loaded 28ga and 410 extensively, and TSS is a no brainer. If you just want to shoot one or two turkeys with the 28ga, then let them get really close and shoot them with whatever suits you.

Horseshit. Just open up whatever 28 shell you have and pour in some #4 or 6 shot from a 12 shell. Kills them dead as democracy...
