with a 20.
Ricky’s call always produces.
I killed my first bird when I was 12 or 13 and until this season never picked up a 20ga. Doubt I'll go back to a 12 now.
First gobbled around 5:30 in the afternoon, 10 minutes later he popped out about 200 yards down the road with two hens. I eased back into the woods about 20 yards and called him away from the hens twice only to have him strut back to their yelping when he was almost in range. We went back and forth until about 6:40 when he fired off and I figured he finally decided to break loose. Within seconds I catch a glimpse of him running down the road in half strut. Figured when he got to where I was and saw nothing he’d spoke, but he stopped at 30 and strutted right to 20ish yards where he caught the right barrel.
Solid bird, 10”+ beard, 1 1/8 and 1 1/4 spurs.
