I am reading a lot of mixed reviews on if the trans tuning is even necessary with EFI Live tunes?

That trans ain't designed for 150 extra HP beating on it. If it was GM would have made it that way from the factory. Tuning bumps line pressure and changes stall and shift points. I don't care what reviews you read, the trans wasn't built for that.

Spend the extra cash and tune it.

But for arguments sake, you do not have to tune trans. Several people don't.

See how that comes with an autocal?

Why don't you buy the CTS monitor and get PPEI autocal with trans tuning on it or ridge runner performance autocal with trans tuning on it?

I do NOT want my trans to shift like Mike's.

    Let’s travel back in time......

Walt4dun, what tuning did you end up with? How’s the Allison holding up to the power?

I think I need to lay off for a while.

I’m trying to build a lbz on a tight budget and that game ain’t going to well. I’m a little worried about limping the Allison if I throw a dsp-5 with those moonshine tunes. Then there is all the opinions of egr block plate vs. an expensive ass egr delete with some high $$$ y-bridge. Don’t get me started on the stereo. All the while it needs a steering box, again opinions are all over the place there. Delco sucks, red head this, modify that....

    Ballin on budget sucks.
