Update to new email address?

My original registration on this site was with an email account that is no longer valid since I changed jobs. Now I use a gmail account. I tried to update my profile and it refused the gmail address. I assume "free" email accounts are not allowed to prevent bogus ID's and fake monikers. Is there any way around this? I've been a member for quite a while. Is there some other way to verify my credentials and let me use my gmail email address?

I am not sure that there is a way around the firewall but I will look and Rock, who knows more about it than I do, will check it out as well...

when we update to the new server, it should work.
