Half-rack of venison

I took BOSTER birding today to show him the difference between a yellow-rumped warbler and a palm warbler. We bumped a group of whitetail bucks that all had at least one side of their antlers still attached. The biggest looked like he would have been a nice typical 8 with stickers on the G2s. The second biggest rack looks to me to be no better than a 5-point maybe just a 4. At the club, I would have shot him without a second thought and ended up owing the club $50.

Thats what SC's problem is with most want to be QDM places. 4 on one side or outside the ears is the biggest travesty amongst rules as it is to drown 3 fingers of blantons with diet coke....

I laugh when i hear people recite those 'rules'. Nothing puts bone on better than age. Clearly that is a solid 4.5yr old maybe older. Since losing our lease I hope old pencil makes it to see 9.5yrs old. 6 years worth of pics, he started as a big 4 and eventually became just a 6. I would have shot him either way, he was an elusive old bastard and loved to fight.

A deer like described passes on the genes for those horns for years on end opposed to a solid 8 that would be lucky to make it 4 years. This kinda dilutes to genes to grow a good rack.
