    Default Lumpy Jaw

This past week while sitting, I had a doe come from behind me and walk right under my stand. I noticed as she got closer something appeared to be in her mouth. Once she got about 20 yards away, she started feeding in the food plot towards me. I got a good look at her and noticed both her cheeks were very swollen.

She was a smaller doe so I passed on her and afterwards looked up what it could have been. On to the inner web and I found the case of lumpy jaw and the causes behind it. My question is I see in cattle they have treatments to correct it, but see nothing about fatalities. In regards to food impaction, is his something that will was to this deers death or will she be able to overcome this?

I had another 20 yard encounter with her this morning on another stand and thought about taking her. Just wondering what the local, knowledgeable, know-it-all, expert or biologist has to say about this.

    Thanks.

Attached is a picture or 2.

She may overcome it, I posted a picture of a buck with a facial growth the size of a softball in September and just got him on camera again and the growth was gone. He only had a scar left where it was.

Good deal, I've read where the nematodes and worms can take care of it. She was just of a smaller size and didn't know if this was the cause of her weight.

Obviously she is a regular and we can watch it.

My teacher asked me what was the capital of North Carolina. I said Washington D.C. She said No. You’re wrong. And I said well you got a lumpy butt. Then I peed in my pants.

Judging from what I have seen in the past and her condition she has a broken lower jaw.. This results in a very small range of motion in the lower jaw which doesn't allow her to chew and flush browse from cheek pockets into esophagus. The pockets will become infected, abcessed and likely kill her at some point.
