Update to this, I just left the sheriff’s office with the pistol returned to me. It has seen better days but glad to have it returned to me.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to update my list.

My first deer rifle that I bought at 18 is out there somewhere. Luckily the original box was still in my dad's attic, otherwise I wouldn't have had the serial#.
