I had an incredible day of hunting on Saturday on a friend of mine's hunting lease in northern New Mexico. We were in elk all morning and all evening. We heard 1,000 of bugles throughout the day and saw many elk. I passed up a small bull 300 yards from getting off the Ranger and passed up a few more before the end of the day. After 9 miles of walking and an end of the day cat and mouse hunt, we called in this bull 15 min before last light and he came in screaming. The shot was 50 yards and we found my arrow (which was a complete pass through) quickly. Looking for blood we didn't find any and we had multiple bulls screaming within 150 yards of us. We decided to back out to not drive the herd away and we came back the next morning. Sunday morning we found the bull around 100 yards from my arrow. He is probably my most impressive bow kill: 361 1/2" P&Y gross green score.
