I remember those days! I watched my dad shoot a many quail dogs back in the day. He had one that he would have to shoot the first hunt every year.

Easy there, troopers! Not every Boykin is a dense, hateful animal. We buried my son's Boykin last year after a long, productive life. He was a fine dog with a big heart and he loved to retrieve ducks. We aren't experienced retriever trainers, don't own a shock collar and never were into field trials. But the little brown dog was a pleasure to own and he earned his keep bringing in birds.

I wish we had him back!

Swift Creek Kennel in Boykin, SC is the trainer I've used. Great people that know what they are doing. My boykin Fripp will be 8 in Dec. He is a great dog.

Rhett Riddle with Bay Creek Retrievers has had success with Boykin's. Blaine Tarnecki with Hudson River Boykin's trains NOTHING but Boykin's and has had great success with them. Blaine is located in Georgia in the Lake Hartwell area.

How about everyone giving this guy a break with the negative comments about his dog. He's spent a lot of money and is obviously very proud of his puppy. Labs aren't for everyone and a Boykin can certainly do any hunting job he desires.

but I agree. no matter how stupid the poster, its not the dog's fault.

    better?

I own a boykin. I love him even though he is an ass pain. He picks up what I shoot....usually.

I always heard, hearsay now, that if she didn't like how you were progressing with the dog she could come get it, along with if she decided to breed it etc. Basically she has a say in what you do with the dog. That may have changed and may not be true, but if it is, good luck.
