    So you want to know how many WEEKS old until you can use a collar?

    Improper use of an E-collar is one of the best ways to ruin your dog if you don't know what you are doing.

    When my dog was a puppy, and even still today, he would do about anything for a pinch of American cheese. Teach with positive reinforcement.
    He will still immediately sit if I pinch my fingers together like I have something in them years later.

    At this stage the best thing you can do is just let him be a puppy and socialize him

    That's what I have been doing to get him sit. That little sucker goes everywhere with me except school!!

    Start with basic obedience, getting this down well will make training for anything else much much easier.
