    Default Truck Bed Storage

I'm getting a camper shell for my trip to North Dakota this year....and I'm having thoughts about leaving it on all the time. What's the best way to store and organize all my junk without having to get in and out of the back of the truck every time I need something.....I like the pull out drawers but them things are $2,000.....any input would greatly be appreciated

Work like it's all up to me, but pray, like it's all up to him!

First off you need a shell that opens on the sides as well.

I have a camper shell on my f250. It's not bad at all getting stuff out but I imagine it would be a pain if you have a lifted truck. Looking back, I would pay the extra money to have sliding Windows on the sides for air circulation if you were to transport dogs and to dry out gear. By the end of the season it may get a little disorganized but it's definitely better than not having the shell when you need it. You can lock it up and not worry about your stuff getting stolen. I usually take mine off after the season and store the shell in my garage on a lift system that I made with rachet straps.

If I remember correctly, someone on here built one of the sliding drawer things for their truck. They posted pics of it. Maybe they will see this thread and chime in. If so, I'm sure that tim smith will have all the hardware you will need for it.

What type of junk are you going to be storing? Hand tools or larger stuff?

I think a sliding drawer idea is unnecessary unless you're old or immobile. Camper shell alone is expensive enough.

    To answer your question....yes

I know during my trip it will be mostly clothes, decoys, guns, dog crate, cooking stuff, etc, etc... and I know that stuff will be a one time thing. mainly what I'm looking to store is jumper cables, chain, screw drivers, hammer, wrenches....normal tool box stuff

Found some fender well boxes from UWS but they run 450 a piece

I'd recommend one or two of these. I bought this one used off of ebay and had to weld a bracket to mount it, but it has been great. I have one, and it is a smaller one, and have all my sockets, ratchets, wrenches, pliers, and other random tools that I could ever need to repair anything. If you had two, you could use one for small hand tools, and then another for chains, and whatever else you might be storing.

    Just my two cent.

I considered the lockable storage boxes. But decided to just keep it simple.

I have a plastic tote or so for each season. I like the ones with flip clasps to hold the top. label them accordingly. I also have a nice HD plastic tool box for my tools. I've always had a bedcover so this just helps keep things organized.

Thinking of a nice camper for the latest ride. Let us know what kind you go with.
