    Default Gelcoat Repair

Dropped a battery and took a chunk out of my gelcoat. Decided to tackle myself. I know it's a small job but was pleased with how it came out.

Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

I bought the kit from West Marine. Basically you mix the gelcoat with the desired color and get that right first. Then add your hardening agent.

Mix well and then apply and add the piece of plastic film over the top to flatten it out. It should cure in a little over an hour.

Then I took fine sandpaper and wet sanded it using a spray bottle.

I hope you sanded the area some first or it will be prone to pop out again. Also, mix some cabosil in with it next time to make "smooth patch" and the touch up is easy. Like putting icing on a cake.

I thought about sanding it down first but didn't. Hopefully won't pop out. Luckily it's in a place that isn't normally visible.

They were the only people I could think of. I try to stay local when I can.
