When I started dipping, there were only 2, Copenhagen and Skoal, at least where I lived. And it was 42 cents a can.

I started at 15, 22 years ago. Copenhagen was $1.99/can. Ive swore I would quit every time it hit the next dollar. I paid $5.49 for a can this morning.

you know I dip, right? Because if you did, you would see my post as funny. Because of your preconceived notions, you think i'm mothering....when I'm actually just joking with a friend.

I was in Alberta last week and completely forgot to buy any dip before leaving Charleston. I didn't know the tobacco situation going into it, just figured it'd be safe to take what I wanted with me rather than trying to get it there. Stopped at a store after landing and asked if they had any. All they can sell is straight, no flavor, and all they had was skoal. A can of Skoal straight was $34 and some change, CAD. Came out to about $27.50 USD, for one can.

I quit about 6 years ago, but I was in Alberta a few weeks ago too. Guy I was hunting with asked me to bring some up to him. I brought him about 30 cans. When he told me what they cost (same prices you saw), it blew my mind.

If I could have smuggled in a suitcase full I could have paid for my trip. We hunted with a local one day that is trying his best to get a job and move stateside. He had a long list of reasons for wanting to move, most having to do with the liberal government that they are having to deal with. But near the top of that list was not being able to buy flavored tobacco anymore. The local farming community is pretty upset about that.

I took a few rolls with me to Australia when I went. Paying the customs fee was worth it.
