This is a fairly common problem. It is easy to express the glands yourself. But in my opinion it is worth getting a second job to be able to afford someone else to do it for you. It is by far one of the worst things you will ever smell.

You ain't wrong!!! I did it one time thinking there weren't no way I was gonna pay somebody to do it........but never again! I'll tell you though, when I got done, my lab jumped down and went fool like some kind of fairy dog or something. Must have felt pretty good. Not too long ago, my Boston Terrier had to have it done. Needless to say, he went to the vet! I won't eat for a week to save the money to pay for it if I have to.

I dont have a weak stomach.

I can recall twice in the last 20 years where something grossed me out enough to make me throw up in my mouth.

First, was nicking the bloated stomach with a knife I was unfamiliar with last winter, and having rumen blow up in my face, and mouth. Second...was being in the same room with my vet when he expressed the Heathen's glands.

Matter of fact, I am feeling kind of queasy now thinking about it.

When jozie was alive my vet asked if I wanted to learn how to do it, so I didnt have to pay every time. I asked how much it was. $7

I told them that i would always keep a $50 credit on my account so there would ALWAYS be money to cover that.

My beagle used to have issues with her glands. When they drain those things, the smell will gag a maggot.

Many groomers will take care of that for you.

15 bucks at Pet Smart and you'll never have to deal with the smell. It's worth it!

Usually pop them on the fox hounds after every field trial

Never even heard about this til the women in my house bought a couple Chihuahuas.
I gladly pay someone every couple months to pop and purge.
I have zero desire to learn how to do it.
