Default grass carp to Clarks Hill

    from SC DNR facebook page

Citizens interested in providing comments to a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plan to manage hydrilla in J. Strom Thurmond Lake through the use of grass-eating carp and herbicides can do so at a public workshop to be held at McCormick High School on May 16, 2016. The purpose of the hydrilla control plan is to reduce bald eagles deaths occurring due to "avian vacuolar myelinopathy." Hydrilla causes AVM in water fowl which pass it on as eagles eat the dying water birds

For some reason, I find it hard to believe they'd go to that much trouble and expense to keep eagles from eating waterfowl that ate hydrilla. My inner skeptic makes me believe that they have some other motive for getting rid of the weeds and they think blaming the weeds for eagle deaths will tamp down opposition.

Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.
