    Default Propane tank inspection?

I have 5 propane tanks that I use for outdoor cooking. For years I have been taking them to Tractor Supply or Ace to be refilled. I took them this past week and the worker wouldn’t fill them because the date on them was over 12 years old. Said I needed to get to go get them inspected and restamped if they were going to continue to fill them.

Where do you get that done? Assuming somewhere like Palmetto Propane?

You goto the gas station and swap them out for new full ones.

Go by a grocery store that has an outside rack...Good chance you'll get a lady cashier to just swap them out for new filled ones...Then carry on with refills as normal.

Good way to upgrade them I guess...I usually refill instead of exchange because they don’t fill the exchanged ones up all the way.

Guess I’ll be exchanging to upgrade my fleet because I damn sure ain’t paying to have them inspected.

They don't fill any of them up all the way. 80% is generally considered full.

Recertification is only good for 5 years. Used to 12 years they had to be recertified now it's 10years. Suburban is about the only place in the upstate that does it.

    I know that but...

Weigh an exchanged “full” tank vs a refilled “full” tank. There is a huge difference.

The exchange program can’t fill them past a certain point due to liability reasons.

Go to the loves on longs pond rd. They will fill them up. Plus there you pay by the gallon not the tank.

The company here in Chapin on St Peters Church Rd will re-certify. They did a few for me and didn't charge me anything. On second thought, the name of the company is Southern Propane.
