Do you have pics of how to modify the vc? Thanks!

Lot more than valve covers and cyl 7 aiding oil burn. Cyl 7 is usually the worse but all 4 active cyls burn oil. I've seen the piston rings "seize" up and cause misfire due to low compression on the 4 active cyls. When pulled down the rings have oil gunk/sludge on them and ONLY the 4 active cyls.

This is not an direct injection engine either. The valves get coated with fuel on injection which helps keep them clean.

On Gm's "fix" they re-ring it, replace lifters and cam. If bad they replace short block.

I wish KRT's shop was in the lowcountry. Need to plan a camping trip at dreher and get my ram to you. It already has a horrible "tick" at startup.

KRT, I've got an '07 Silverado 5.3 with 175k miles. Burns about a quart of synthetic oil between every 5k mile oil change, always has. Seems to have lost some power with age. Is it worth the DOD delete or should I sell the thing now while it's still running?

Okay... in the interest of not hearing/reading the same thing over and over again, let me break this down for you fools.

KRT is offering a service to remove a widely known issue from Mopar and GM DOD/Cyl. Mgmt. systems. This engine management functionality (ironic word choice, I know) is detrimental to your valve train. It's a fact.

He is offering this service for $200.

A new motor will run you ~$6k installed and a repair almost $4k.

Just go see him (or someone else) and have the DOD disabled. it's not rocket science. It's the cheapest insurance you will ever buy.

If you've already done damage, this will ensure you do no more. If you haven't done any damage, this will ensure that there will never be any outside of normal wear.

    Get it? Got it? Good.

    Wish I got 16 mpg. I'm lucky if I get 10.
