    Default 2016 Gardens

What are you guys planting this year? When do you start trying to get seed in the ground?

I'm gonna start working on a couple raised beds here in the next few weeks. Hope to plant some bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and looking for ideas for the rest of the space.

    Bell peppers
    Tomatoes
    Jalapeños
    Cilantro basil oregano etc
    Zucchini and squash
    Okra

Edited: I like cooking with fresh herbs and use them often. A sewer pipe works well if you don't want to buy pots. Just take a hole saw to it And fill with dirt. You can plant quite a bit in there like that. My dad used to use a section of gutter for his. Kind of tacky if you are worried about looks but it works too. Politician sign frames are good for climbers as well. I will be adding in another section (raised)for the garden this year to expand it another 130 sq ft. I wish I had more room but then I'd have to fence it all in to keep the deer out.

I don't plant one but have a farmer friend where I can get whatever he plants. Usually get a bunch of sweet corn, okra, squash, and some sort of peas. It's gonna get nasty with the sweet corn this year.

It just goes to seed real quick, just use it. You can pick off the flowers try to slow it, but I find it too hard in our summer.

I want have one running where we're building until next spring, it's just not going to happen. I plan to have our green house up, but I'll be doing tomatoes in my old garden at the lake, plus our big one in BWood.

Does anybody start the seeds inside and then plant them outside? Not worth the effort?

Depends, I grow some things from seeds. Honestly though I haven't started anything inside for years. We plan to with the greenhouse, it'll be a decent sized.

Squashes, they're started from seeds, it's girly if you don't. Tomatoes, I go with plants. Basically if I started them I'd be doing the same thing. I haven't planted more than 50 any given year so far though.
