When I was in school JugHeads in Clemson used to have the best dogs. I think they are closed now. Could have just been the 2 am visits when the bars were no longer open that made it so good as well......

bbq dogs from smokin pig are excellent.

also the frisco dog from the barnwood grill in anderson. 1/4 pound beef hotdog with bacon, swiss and strawberry rhubarb jam. very good.

I don't know about the best I've eaten but if its by the quantity I've eaten from one place, it would be Santee Grocery. I asked the lady in there a few years ago how many hotdogs she figured they have sold. She thought for a second and said " an ass load"!

IceHouse in Georgetown always had a 3am colon cleansing sausage dog for the duck hunting crowd.

If you dont like hot dogs you are not American.

    Skoogies - Mt Pleasant
    Icehouse - Georgetown
    PF - Summerville
    Watfords Store - Warsaw
    Ebenezer -Rock Hill

I also think Cosmic Dogs is overrated.

Roy Smith that owned Smith’s Highway Service, a gas station beside the jailhouse in Ninety Six had the best hot dogs in the world. Mr. Smith has been out of business for over 35 years. Matter of fact he's been dead since 2002. Back around 1993 I was coming home from hunting one cold mid-morning and saw an old man on the side of the road. His car was broke down so I stopped. Turns out it was Mr. Smith. I helped him get his car started (loose battery cable) and followed him home to make sure he got there. He thanked me over and over and then told his wife to give me a copy of his famous chili. I told him he didn't have to do that but he insisted. I still have the recipe in his wife's handwriting. That was better than gold to me because I loved eating his hot dogs growing up. Every time dad and I went to Buzzard Roost to fish for stripers we stopped and got hot dogs at Smith's.

For an idea of what his chili was like, it doesn't have chili powder in it. I'll give you part of the recipe, but not the secret ingredients.

    1lb ground beef
    1lb mild sausage
    1lb diced potatoes.

The rest if for y'all to figure out.
