Looks like a smart move to me.

Grown up hunting with dogs, didn't shoot my first deer with a rifle until this season. When done right, there is nothing better. Here is the way I see it. First, I think it is good that there is a provision making it a crime to pretty much do anything but call the owner if a dog gets on your property, will it change dogs getting shot, probably not but some will get busted for doing it. Second, I think that a minimum acreage has been a long time coming and since this is the first 'draft' or whatever you want to call it, I see this acreage amount going down a good bit when the pro-dog drive reps have their say.

Edit: I also think that it is funny that still hunting is now considered more sporting than dog driving. Using dogs is by far the most classic way of hunting any game animal across the world. My dad always laughs when he tells me how much of a pussy my great grandfather and his buddies thought any still hunter was, back when the still hunting craze was just coming about.

Now if they have a 400 acre block on their 4000 acres does that mean they can't hunt it? Or is it the total acres of the club?

Minimum acreage would go along way to weed out some of the troublesome dog hunters.

That bill has been sitting idle for at least 2 years. It is nothing for the ones that dog hunt to worry about.

Plus when we dog hunted we had a 612 acre tract that dogs never got off of and never had any complaints from neighboring properties so these kind of tracts that have the right terrain is why this bill didn't go anywhere and prob never will

when hunters fight each other, the non hunters and anti hunters sit back and laugh.

"you must have 1000 acres to run a dog" can easily be argued into "you must have 1000 acres to shoot a rifle"

I can argue all day that the rifle is more dangerous for a longer distance than a dog. A lost dog has killed far fewer people than a lost bullet.

But yall go ahead and use your "majority" to legislate against something YOU dont want around your property.

One day another "majority" will legislate out what THEY dont want around their property.
