The mussel's "liquor" has it's place, but it's over high heat with butter and chopped shallots, minced garlic, freshly chopped parsley and poured over bread. Not in a big pot of boiling spiced water. No way the protein survived that.

Ahhhh, it's moved. And yes to what JAB said, that's icky. It's about like eating some fresh water asian shrimp or a dern tilapia.
