My wife got the D3300 recently. I've been out of the game for a while, so it's neat seeing where the technology has gone. I, admittedly, did no research for her, so I was surprised when my old Nikon AF lenses wouldn't autofocus. Having said that, I really like the new AF-S lenses and the stabilization feature. One complaint I have is the lack of a second knob to adjust exposure. It can be a little cumbersome to change your exposure on the fly since it requires a few button-presses. I'm looking into new lenses now for her.

Any suggestions for mid-range AF-S lenses from the crowd?
