    Default Suppressor Process Question

I have never owned one, do not particularly know the steps to take to legally buy and possess. I have a .22 handgun with a threaded barrel that I want to put one on. Could someone save me the research and learning curve and post the steps in simple terms? I already know what suppressor I want to buy.

Set up a trust and apply for your stamp.....and wait.

About it. Mine went about like this:

    1. Set up a NFA trust. You can skip this step, but a trust is the best long-term route.
    2. Buy the suppressor. If PSA has it on the shelf, you're golden. If not, and you have to order it online, have them or some other Class III dealer be the shipping point for it.
    3. Submit the paperwork to the ATF and a check for $200.
    4. Wait while the Class III dealer keeps the suppressor in "ATF Jail". The wait can be 8+ weeks.
    5. When the Class III dealer gets your approved tax stamp back from the ATF, he'll call you and you go get your suppressor (via 4473 form).

I read that the option for the trust was going to be leaving soon. Have you guys heard any more about that?

It's so easy a caveman can do it. Had mine within hours and applied for my tax stamp. I now own 3 suppressed rifles with my trust from thsi company. It was only $80 and they are great with customer service.

No word on the 41P proposal. Which is good.

One "NFA Trust" can own many suppressors, correct?
You have to get a "tax stamp" each time you buy a suppressor, correct?
What is the turn around time for the Tax Stamp?

    1. Yes. You can have multiple class III weapons or suppressors under one trust.
    2. Yes, you must pay $200 for the ATF tax stamp per class III weapon or suppressor.
    3. I just got a few items last week I applied for 7 months ago.

My last Form 4 on a Trust took about 4.5 months.

They were down to about 3 but seem have crept back up to around 4-5.

Here are a couple good links to track "average" times for receiving the tax stamp/approved Form 4.

    Welcome to the club.

I got the glorious news that TBAC has submitted the Form 3 to the ATF - so MAYBE in a month they can at least ship it to my Class III. One more step towards quieter deer/pig killin'.

Not sure why you bought a 300 blackout without planning to put a can on it. 300 blackout isn't a very impressive cartridge unless it's subsonic and suppressed. Even then, there might be better choices.

This a rhetorical statement that's really a question. Is there any good reason to have a 300 blackout if it's not suppressed? It's otherwise a very weak .308 bullet. Weaker than a 30/30. If it ain't silent...why? Wouldn't a 6.8 SPC or 6.5 CM be a better choice for a non-standard (deer capable) AR round?
