    Default Stihl Vs. Echo

My old John Deere chainsaw is finally dead. Time for a new one.

For the same price I can get the Stihl MS 271 Farm Boss or the Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf...both with 20" bars.

The Stihl engine is a little smaller than the Echo's.

Is there that big of a difference between the MS 271 and the MS 291? Looking at the specifications, that's about the difference between 271 and the Echo 590. So I guess the question is, is my money better spent on the larger saw Echo? I didn't price the MS 291 and only guessing at it's price but I bet is at least $50-75 more.

Stihl, get the one with the easy start, its worth it.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

When I was in high school I worked part time at a small engine repair shop. We were Husqvarna dealers but worked on everything. Both are good quality saws. If it were me, I would go with the Echo. Any time I ever worked on a saw I would always do a compression test. It always seemed like Echos had an outrageous amount of compression.

I have the cs-590 and have been more than pleased with it. It's actually way more saw than I need most of the time. Fires right up. Tons of power. I have zero complaints.

I have had them both and both held up damn well. If the Stihl is not much more than an Echo, I would have to choose Stihl.

I just got two new Stihls. 271 does everything I need it to. No problems thus far, but only been running them for a month.

Driggers in S'ville is a dealer for both. Looks like I'm heading there in the morning. For what I need, how often I use it, and what I use it for really any of them would probably be just fine.

I've been beating the hell out of my echo cs 400 18in all summer in the beaver swamp. No problems with it. Stihl is probably better saw if you have the extra money.

My question is kinda still the same. So let's spell it out a little.
    Budget $400
Echo (if I remeber right 55cc) and 20" bar
Stihl (again if I remeber right) 48 cc and 20" bar
    Husky...52 cc with 20" bar.

All of them are $399. Is stihl that much better to pay for less of a saw? This husky has me thinking. I'm glad my local dealer has both. A decision will be made in the morning. High winds and limbs down. Got to buy in the morning.
