I understand that to legally own a firearm suppressor in SC, all you need to do is fill out the BATF paperwork, pay your $200 transfer tax, and get your local chief law enforcement officer to sign off on it.

Who would be the local LEO in this scenario? Is it the county sherrif, town police chief, or a state official?

Has anyone had any experience getting a legal suppressor in the Charleston area?

I was just at a gunsmith's place of business who let me shoot a Walther 22 equiped with a suppressor. It was no louder than a spring loaded pellet gun.

He said there is a $200 transfer fee the local sherrif had to sign on. In SC, the only sherrif that won't sign is Spartanburg's.

Now, what was that about the cats?
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.
